Day-3 , 7th day of conditioning treatment.
Hi everyone.Thank you for your great messages of support...we are reading them each morning with Ella and she loves it.
We had our big breakfast today, thanks to Daddy, and Ella tucked into a hash brown and a small amount of scrambled egg, with brown sauce of course. It went down really well I can tell you. A new strategy this morning though with the medicines. Instead of having them lined up ominously on the trolly, they were kept in the medicine cabinet and appeared a couple at a time. This seemed to work much better and wasn't as daunting over the next 1 1/2 hrs.
Ella had a very busy morning beginning with her shower( and hair wash ) followed by an hour with her teacher. Maths today..............tens and units.........Mrs Robinson. Dr Wynn then came to visit and he was very pleased with Ella. He said he was going to knock off the really nasty medicine, halleluijah!
Just as Janet left there was a knock on the door and the music therapist appeared to invite Ella to make some music. She shyly agreed and Rachel produced a big sack of percussion instruments to play. She invited Damian and I to join in too, so the four of us jammed for the next 1/2hr. CD OUT NEXT MONTH!
There was just enough time to set up the next chemo before Auntie Rachael,Sam and Reg arrived. Rachael brought a lovely home made Shepherds pie which Ella fancied, whilst Reg and I took Sam to the restaurant to choose something for himself. What did he choose? You've guessed it.Shepherds pie, which we brought back to the room. Kids eh?
We said goodbye to Daddy and a short time later Mummy arrived back, looking much better than when I last saw her. Lots of cuddles all round. She has brought me some fantastic things for my igloo.........a memory foam mattress and pillow, electric heater, double duvet, warm touch sheet, an orchid and a cuddly toy! I'm definitely having a lie in tomorrow.
Before Sam went home he and Sally went out to make a snowman for Ella ,just below her window. We were laughing sooooo much at them.To begin with, they both had surgical gloves on ! Not very warm but nice and slippery. After 20mins of rolling the ball around the grass the body was coming along fine, until Sally patted it a bit too hard..A quick bit of surgery fixed that and the head followed beautifully, with Ella Kate and I giving directions from inside. It was then that Sam did a sort of back sliding movement and knocked it's head off! I think by now determination on Sally's part kicked in, and he/she was left to glisten with 3 pompoms for eyes and nose. By now news had spread and Sally could see faces from every cubicle window on the unit, patients and nurses alike. We haven't named him/her yet.....suggestions?
An hour later we looked out and unbelievably some twit had added what can only be described as a male appendage, to it's head. Fortunately it was dark and was soon knocked off!
Hi everyone its Sally, im back after a much needed rest feeling much better and hopefully fully charged !! It was so lovely to see Ella looking so well and spirited today she is a superstar and the bravest little person I know.Tommorrow is big chemo day we will let you know how we go on.
Three cheers for my wonderfull Mum she's is simply THE BEST!!!!

Morning troopers! How is Ella today? I hope you are feeling OK today Ella. I have to say, I think it is very nice of you to share your "road to recovery" with us all, it is so nice to read about you every day and see how you are doing. Nanny is funny isn't she? Her blog is very entertaining. I love hearing about all the things you have been getting up to in hospital. And it sounds to me that Dad's breakfast was pretty good, worth the wait I hope! What did you think of Mummy and Sam's snowman? Emily and Isobel were in the garden last night making a snowman, he was really quite cute but probably not a cute as yours. Isobel fell over and hurt her bottom on the pavement, she can't sit down today (silly sausage!).
ReplyDeleteI hope your treatment goes well today (Tuesday), we are all thinking of you. Love to you all.

P.S.glad you are feeling better Sally! Sounds like mum's igloo is going to be a palacial igloo with all her new accessories!
Hi folks, you should write a book Annette, I think you may have missed your calling!! Very entertaining blogs, thankyou! Emily didn't make a snowman but she did manage to throw some very icy snow down the front of my top.. my, it was cold!!and how she did laugh!! Ozzy has had great fun, running round the garden trying to catch snowflakes, looking like a little snowdog! Then, last night, when we were trying to get him inside cos it was bedtime, he just kept running off into the garden to play so David and I were running round like loons trying to catch him...maybe more dog training classes are needed after all.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that the docs are pleased with Ella's progress, she is such a clever girl!
Love to all
Andrea
Hiya all, Nearly lunch time and reading you blog made me very hungry - only had toast for breakfast and that was ages ago! Your snowman sound fun. Matt and Tom went to the rec last night for a big snow ball fight and came home soaked but had a great time. They did not even ask me - I must be getting old. Great to know how you are all doing and to hear all the news. Love to all. Martin

ReplyDeletehi Ella its sam (grace's mum). Your mum tells me you are being really brave! We are in the library at the moment typing this because my computer is broken. its the first time i have written on a blog ,so i hope you actually get this message. Everyone at school is asking about you and missing you lots. We can't access the blob from school yet because sefton have blocked it so Mrs. Hodge will be sending messages from home for you. We hope to see you really soon.lots of love and hugs Sam.XXX
ReplyDeleteHi Ella, so glad that your feeling a little better today & that you managed to eat. It's not only children that like the snow but the bunny likes it as well, the minute I opened up the garage door she ran out & was hopping all over the snow then jumping up as it tickled her nose. if we get any more snow I will remember to take a picture of her for you. she has also decided that she like the birds peanuts that have fallen on to the grass. poor little birds will have to eat them up super fast so she doesn't get them all. i'm glad your mummy is feeling better. big hugs will write again soon Sallyanne & nick Xx x x x
ReplyDeleteHi all. Glad to here things are ok. Love reding the blog. Does nanny want a job in our school. Saw the boys today and they seem fine although I think Max is a bit shocked at being in school all day!!! Glad you have been learning about tens and units. Perhaps you can teach me when you get back to school. I have contacted some one who I hope will put a web cam in your class so you can check up what your friends are doing. I bet they are not doing tens and units!! I have also cotacted Sefton and they have said they will remove the block on your blog at school. Heres hoping!!! I enjoyed the snow too and wished I had a sledge. My Matty has gone to Turin for the snow. He should have stayed at home. Miss you loads. Take care all of you. Mrs Robinson X
ReplyDeletePS Just read my blog and realised how poor my spelling is. I think I need to go back to school. Can I come to yours? Mrs R X
